Mike's Kokoda Track Diary



This is the diary of a bloke called Mike, and his trek across the challenging Kokoda Trail.

Mike trekked the Kokoda Trail in August/September 2009, with Adventure Kokoda.

He was with a small group of only 5 trekkers, plus 1 trek leader and 16 porters.

The weather was mostly fine, with only one day of rain.

Mike was inspired to walk the trail by his grandfather - Staff Sergeant Walter (Watty) J Wilkins NGX421. Watty, throughout 1942, at the age of 37, was detached to the Commando's of Kanga Force to fight behind enemy lines in North East New Guinea.
